Tina Brown started The Hair Pin because she believes a good haircut is really about self esteem and confidence. After more than twenty years behind the chair, including hair and makeup work for rock bands, bridal parties, and stage and film productions, she opened her own shop on Queen Street to do exactly that, one client at a time.
The chair beside hers belongs to Bonnie Neville, a certified stylist with twenty-plus years of her own experience. Bonnie is known for custom wig fitting and styling, work she does for clients going through alopecia or chemotherapy as much as for anyone who just wants a change. Every new client starts with a free half hour consultation, no rush, no guessing.
Pricing is confirmed at your appointment since every head of hair is different. Here is what Tina and Bonnie work on most.
A wash, cut and finish styled the way you actually want to wear it.
A wash and blowout when you want the finish without the cut.
Demi, semi or permanent colour, formulated for your hair in the chair.
Dimension added with foils, blended to grow out naturally.
Classic perm work for lasting curl and body.
Fitting, sizing and cutting for wigs, a specialty of Bonnie's for alopecia, chemotherapy and anyone changing up their look.
Patient, friendly cuts for kids, handled with care.
Clean beard and mustache trims to finish off a men's cut.
Nothing complicated. Here is how a visit to The Hair Pin goes.
Reach Tina or Bonnie directly and find a time that works for you.
Especially for new clients, we start by talking through what you want. Bonnie's first consultation is a complimentary half hour.
Every appointment ends with a full style, because looking good is only half of it. Feeling good is the point.
Two stylists, one shop on Queen Street, and more than forty years of experience between them.
Tina opened The Hair Pin after more than two decades as a hair designer, including years as a stylist and manager who trained and apprenticed new stylists. Outside the shop she has done hair and makeup for rock bands, bridal parties, and stage, film and pageant productions, and she volunteers locally, including with women's shelters and the Saturday Night Suppers program at Stirling Mennonite Church.
Bonnie has been a certified stylist for over twenty years and keeps up with continuing education in colour and cutting trends. She is known for custom wig fitting and styling for clients with alopecia or going through chemotherapy, and every new client gets a complimentary half hour consultation.
★★★★★Love having Tina do my hair. She is skilled, hilarious and professional. It's always a good way to spend some self care time. I feel great about myself when she is done, and I always get lots of compliments after she has transformed my hair.
“If you're in need of a hair stylist, Tina is the absolute GO TO. I've been going to Tina for over a decade, and you won't catch me anywhere else! Her personality and kindness is one in a million.”
“Tina styled two of our young granddaughters' hair. She was so skilled with them, taking two nervous kids and engaging them so they expressed what they wanted their hair to look like. Both girls loved their haircuts.”
“Tina is awesome. She helped me stop looking like a hippie and gave me a much more professional look. Thank you Tina!”
